Marrero LA 70072 | Number of Homes Sold | October 2009
The number of homes sold in Marrero in October was 34, with a total 300 sold year to date. This is a decrease of 7.4% from the number of sales recorded at this same time last year.
The good news is that sales from month to month are holding steady at an average of 30 homes per month, so while the number of sales is down from years past, there does not seem to be a great deal of volatility in the market.

Marrero LA 70072 | Average Home Sale Price | October 2009
Home prices in Marrero have been up and down this year, with an average of $139,935, a decrease of over 10% from the 2008 average.
The bad news is that prices have continued to drop.
The good news is that unless you purchased your home in 2006-2008, you more than likely are at least at a break even point. More and more, we are hearing from sellers who purchased at the peak that want to sell their homes. Unfortunately, many of them owe more than they can get in today’s market.
If this is your situation, our advice is to stay put. Real estate is cyclical and while we may be on a downswing right now, there is sure to be an upswing in the future.

At least it's up and down.... in numbers though prices are still dropping. I think it's trying to find a happy medium :)
Hi Lisa, Love the graphs and the different ways you have presented your information. Great local information for your community.
Sally, the good news is that it's just about level with 2005 - the last "normal" market we had before Hurricane Katrina. Prices are down from those peaks post storm, but those weren't sustainable prices anyway.
Sandy, thanks!
Lisa, You have a home listed for $29,900? Did I read that right? You couldn't purchase a small driveway here for that amount of money! I can imagine the wonderful vacation homes people in your area have...
Carole, pretty much anything priced at $29,900 is going to be a tear down listed for land value only. Amazingly enough, we don't sell that many vacation homes. There are some in the French Quarter, but we are not a big second home market.
A parking spot is hard to find in the Warehouse District for 25k. Little does someone know the neighborhood for 29k here.
LOL @ Eric...isn't is amazing how just a few miles makes such a difference in our markets?
