Thanksgiving. That time of year when everyone stops to remember what they are thankful for.
We have our little canned speeches where we recite our good fortune in life and count our blessings of health, happiness and family. You want to know what I’m thankful for?
I’m thankful for…
Facebook, for creating a time sucking vacuum that allows me to pretend that I’m networking while virtually poking that guy I barely remember from high school that somehow made it onto my friends list.
Take out food, because I don’t cook.
Flip cameras, for allowing me to record every single embarrassing moment in my children’s lives, giving them someting to complain to their therapist about when they grow up.
Pizza delivery, because I don’t cook.
Internet shopping, so I don’t have to get up at 4 am to join the legions on Black Friday who are trampling each other for a $20 toy.
Frozen entrees, because I don’t cook.
My iPhone, because I truly don’t know how people function without an app for that.
Kids who eat cereal for dinner, because I don’t cook.
Swiffer cloths, because without them I would have killed that stupid, shedding cat by now.
Grocery store prepared food, because I don’t cook.
Back up cameras on cars, so I can see what I’m going to hit, in living color, before I hit it.
Blue Runner red beans in a can, because I don't cook.
Community New Orleans Blend coffee and chicory, because non-fat lattes are for sissies.
People with a sense of humor and x-ray vision, who can see my tongue firmly planted in my cheek ;)
And just so you know, I’m truly thankful for…
My family, because they are everything to me.
A roof over my head, because so many are struggling to keep theirs.
Food on the table, because too many will go hungry tonight.
Good friends, because there are people who have no one to rely on in a time of need.
My career, because so many are out of work.
Our nation’s soldiers and protectors, because most of us wouldn’t dream of making the daily sacrifices that they make.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours….

I see a common threat here. I assume what you do make well are reservations.
Lisa
I love Scott's comment above with what, I assume, is a typo (or is it?) Is it a common thread or are you threatening not to cook! Either way, thanks for your thoughts on Thanksgiving and have a lovely holiday.
Very funny. My iphone is my life now...and "ve only had it for 3 weeks. When I'm not working on it I'm looking for newer cooler apps. LOL I think it might be an addiction. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Scott, I am an expert at reservations :)
Margaret, LOL! I hope your holiday is lovely as well!
Nathan, don't ya love it? I don't know how I lived without one, and when I meet another addict, all I want to know is what apps they have that I might need :)
There is a lot to be thankful for and I am thankful for another Christmas!
Merry Christmas
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Happy Thanksgiving, Santa Charles :)
You totally crack me up! I would starve to death at your house, Have a great Thanksgiving!
Lisa, I can only say "ditto" to your Thankfulness list. My family and friends are precious and it is a good day to be thankful for every single one of them. Happy Thanksgiving!
Russell, I promise that I really do cook Thanksgiving dinner. Christmas too. The other 363 days a year are not looking too good, however.
Carole, Happy Thanksgiving to you too, my friend! I hope you day is wonderful and that your family is close.
You're funny. I will cook most of the time, but I like to skip out on Thanksgiving and Christmas and go to someone else's if it's possible.
Oh man... I was buying that. I was going to bump my wife about the Swiffer line, too.
Georgina, we left town one year for Thanksgiving and ate at someone else's house. It's just not the same. Hope your holiday is wonderful :)
Lane, hee hee...do you have a perpetually shedding cat too??
Lisa, we enjoy Thanksgiving at home too, but without the cooking. Take-out food for Thanksgiving, can't beat that when it's a deep-fried turkey with all the trimmings. Happy Thanksgiving.
Sallie, that's a smart way to handle dinner! We are about to start round 2...family this afternoon, friends this evening...so I'm back in the kitchen warming leftovers and putting together small appetizers. I don't want to see food again for awhile :) Hope your holiday has been fabulous!
Lisa - No cats... allergic. But we have had a few extra fur dogs.
Lisa, that is very cleverly written. You don't cook? Smart woman! ;-) Eating away from home is definitely not the same, is it? I cooked this year - and have lots of leftovers in the fridge. I like the way "I" cook! ;-)
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day...;-)
With only 2 of us it is easy to buy prepared foods but my wife is such a good cook it is nice to have leftovers and I can enjoy her food for several days and with thanksgiving it seem we have turkey for a week. I am thankful for so many things thanks for the reminder.
Lane, "extra fur dogs"...LOL!!!
Teri, it was very nice, thank you, I hope yours was as well...and I'm with you - I like our traditions and despite the fact that we threaten to leave town every year, I know it's not gonna happen. I'm too set in my ways and my menu to change it now!
Terry, aren't leftover turkey sandwishes the BEST?!?
Lisa, you crack me up... I love your sense of humor! Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Hi Lisa ~ I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I tried to convince my husband it was cheaper to "buy" the turkey dinner from the grocery story instead of cooking but he said not way! Oh well, at least I tried. But that is OK, take out was tonight!
Thanks, Judy! I hope your holiday was fantastic :)
Terrie, I did, and you? Despite the fact that I don't like to cook, I have to agree with your husband :)
Lisa - Love the list. It made me LOL. I would have to add the Chocolate Croissants from the Hi-Do Bakery on Terry Parkway to the list. Have you been there?
Susan, I LOVE Hi-Do...our carnival krewe gets our poboy bread for a local festival from there every year because it's so fantastic. Are you from LA?
Lisa, I'm not from LA but a team member had family in Gretna. And when she went to visit, she'd always bring those croissants back. You can see that they made quite an impression on me!
Susan, are you coming to family reunion? If so, just zip across the river and grab a dozen or two :)
Lisa, I haven't decided yet but you know I will zip over there and take some home. They freeze wonderfully too!
