Over the years, Algiers Point has been one of the best kept secrets in New Orleans real estate. Filled with turn of the century construction, it rivals any of the Uptown neighborhoods in architecture, charm and history but offers a better value for your real estate dollars. As in any older community, there are homes that need a little bit of work but present an opportunity to put your own stamp on an established home.

This looks like a very interesting home at Seguin Street Lisa. Best of luck with the sale.
Lisa, this looks like a great opportunity for some one at a great price. Good luck and hope it sells quickly.
Algiers does indeed have some well kept secret areas. The home looks to be in great condition, good luck.
That is one great looking place.
Best of luck with the sale!
Merry Christmas from your friend in Charlottesville!
Lisa, how far is Algiers Point from New Orleans?
Miriam, Algiers Point is actually part of New Orleans, but on the West Bank of the Mississippi River. If you take the ferry from Canal Street, it drops you right in the Point or you can drive across the Crescent City Connection (not as much fun as the ferry!)
Lisa, What a fantastically fun little house down in the Big Easy! Love it! Great music with the video as well...and didn't the Saints pull one out last weekend?!! Thank the Lord for luck, sometimes! Who Dat is right! New Orleans has got to be on an all time high right now!!!
Very cool listing and post. Glad to see you busy and working (while enjoying the Saints Amazing year)!
Sooo cute! But I'm curious, is it a duplex? It's architecture looks like it could be 2 homes side by side? 8 fireplaces??? Wow!
Jane, the Saints are now 12-0! WHO DAT!! The city is going nuts right now with Saints fever.
Thanks, Russell :) I know that you are pulling for Drew Brees!
Colleen, it used to be a double (or duplex) but was converted to a single family home at some point, which is fairly typical for the area. Fortunately, over the years no one covered up or removed the original fireplaces, even though they are no longer functional. This is the second oldest neighborhood in New Orleans (only the French Quarter is older), and the architecture in the community is just incredible.
I love the character of the home. 8 fireplace fronts seems like a lot is that typical?
Terry Bonnie, when these houses were built, fireplaces were the only form of heating. Originally, this was 2 homes - a double/duplex. Over the years, people have added central air and heat, but the fronts and mantles have remained in place (or been replaced from the salvage yards). Architecturally, these homes are just stunning....they just don't design and build houses like this anymore.
You are right Lisa.... they do not build houses like they used to... Back then, the houses were built to last for generations! I like the nooks and crannies of homes like these... much character.
I do love the historic homes...but I think I'm going stick with my place in the sky!
It will have proud new owners in no time!
