New Orleans Real Estate News: Lucky Dogs | New Orleans Photos

Lucky Dogs | New Orleans Photos

In any other part of the country, you’d think I was talking about some pampered pooches.  In New Orleans, a Lucky Dog has a whole other meaning.

Lucky Dogs in New Orleans

The hot dog carts have been a fixture in the French Quarter for as long as I can remember (and was the one craving I had when expecting child #1).   The company has expanded and now will provide carts and servers for company picnics, parties and more.  Fun, but to me they should still be eaten late at night while standing on the sidewalk just off of Bourbon Street….

Lisa - I love this. What a great photo of a French Quarter staple. And a clever name.

Hi Lisa,

Love the photo. I've never been to New Orleans and the photo makes it enticing.

In 2003, in an effort to increase safety for the drivers, NASCAR banned racing back to the yellow after the caution is displayed. While this has increased safety (safety crews are able to respond more quickly) the rule contains a special "Lucky Dog" provision which greatly sacrifices the integrity of the sport.

See * I can get a NASCAR reference in for a hot dog stand!!!

Jeff, just another little bit of my unique hometown ;)  I'm having so much fun taking pictures all over.

Don, are you coming to Family Reunion in New Orleans?  You'd love it!

Lisa I haven't eaten one of those in years.  I bet they sell a few extra this weekend.

When I lived in the warehouse district in 1993-94 (!!), we would line up 30 deep in the wee hours after leaving a bar at one of these stands. Very happy memories, and one of the great tings about your great town.

Ah yes...I remember from my brief tenure in New Orleans (did you know I lived there for 6 months and worked at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside and Towers?)

Hope to sample some in November if the real estate gods bless me with the chance to come to New Orleans!

Thanks for the memory!
