Lisa, this is a nice post about your housing areas across the river! I am still so confused from visiting NO with my wife Sharon this past February for Family Reunion. I got so turned around the way the Mississippi twists and turns and it seemed that Algiers was on the East side of the river. I wish I had taken the ferry to visit Algiers as many people said it was very beautiful.
I enjoyed the rich history of NO and wish I had more time to explore.
