New Orleans Real Estate News: Brown Patch? What the heck?

Brown Patch? What the heck?

 Brown patch

Hey West Bankers...does your yard look like this ? >>>>>>>>>

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a small brown patch in my front yard.  Hmmm. Wonder what that is?  As the days went on, the patches began popping up all over the place.  YIKES!

So, I patiently waited for my yard guy, Tim, to come.  I have the greatest yard guy on the West Bank...he shows up on time, he does a great job, he doesn't charge me a fortune and best of all, he always gives me great advice when I get yucky brown patches in my front yard.  Sorry, but he is booked solid and not taking new customers at this time.

Anyway, his expert diagnosis was "Brown Patch".  Gee, you think?  Expert solution:  Go to (insert your favorite home improvement store here) and get some Immunox.  It comes in a bottle that attaches to the garden hose, no muss, no fuss, no mixing, and for about $15 and 15 minutes you can fix your brown patch problem yourself.  No wonder he's the greatest yard guy.

would love to see brown grass, looks like a snow storm is headed this way for the weekend!  YUCK!

Susan, nope, no snow storms here, thank goodness.  I actually have hibiscus blooming and a bud on an iris plant!  Be careful and stay warm in that snow.

I'm curious.... what was causing the brown patches?  An insect?  A fungus?

And was the spray just some green paint?  lol

I hate to spray poisons in my yard, and I refuse to.  They don't call it POISON for nothing.

Georgina, apparently it's a fungus and the treatment is some sort of fungicide for lawns.  I never knew such a thing existed.  I like the idea of the paint, though..at least it would all stay the same color, right? :)

I never hard of it either, but I'm not surprised.  If you could spray the fungicide on with a green color, you would also know where you already sprayed.

Hey Lisa,

I thought it was bugs. Good thing you have a lawn guy. Send him up here and he can shovel the snow for us. LOL

Go ahead, rub it in, you are still dealing with lawn problems while we are shoveling white stuff! Is this fair?

Bonnie, it was actually 80 degrees here yesterday, and I was weeding the garden while my husband hung the Christmas lights.  This morning, however, it is overcast, windy and in the low 60s.  Still not really cold, but at least it doesn't feel like summer in December.

Lisa,

Do you think if I sprayed it on my head it would get rid of the 'brown' patch in the back?

LOL, Martin!!!  How funny you picked this post to comment on...the day I wrote my last comment was apparently the day I got poison ivy :)
