New Orleans Real Estate News: New Orleans, LA West Bank Rental Market - January, 2008

New Orleans, LA West Bank Rental Market - January, 2008

I have received several calls recently from people who are weighing whether to put their New Orleans West Bank home on the market to sell or to list it as a rental property.realtor

Before you decide between selling your home and becoming a landlord, you may want to check the 2007 sales statistics for your West Bank neighborhood.  A look back at history gives you a starting point before jumping into the real estate market.  I can tell you personally, though, that since the 1st of the year, my phone has been ringing more!  Potential buyers for West Bank homes, agents setting appointments on my listings, inquiries from folks who are thinking about selling.  If you are ready to be a part of the 2008 West Bank real estate market, feel free to contact me and we can get the ball rolling right away.

If, however, you are interested in renting your home instead of selling it, let's take a look at the competition in the rental market.  Remember, these are only rentals listed with an agent - private rentals are not included.

Lisa, I'm so glad to hear your phone is ringing more and more, I don't know anyone that knows more about that area then you. You always provide such wonderful information and are an expert in helping people find exactly what they're looking for.

What a fantastic idea! I never thought about doing the rental thingy. This is such important information...especially given the fact that some people will need to rent out their home while they wait for the market to pick up. GBU!!

Elizabeth, I've been getting this question more and more lately, so I figured a rental market report would fill the bill!

Lisa,

Tucson's a bargain for rentals compared to this.  Good job!

Mike, our rents have gone up quite a bit since Katrina.  As the number of home sales falls, it's a great time for those tenants to get pre-approved and think about purchasing their own home - there hasn't been such a big selection in many years.

Hi Lisa,

I have a question concerning acceptance of the Disaster Housing Assistance Voucher FEMA issued for Katrina evacuees. My question is, do you know of any properties in Algiers that would accept my wanting to relocate back home from Atlanta, GA.? I have lived here for five years now and I want to come home. I am a single professional female with no kids or pets. Please find out what you can for me. Thank You. Homesick Native.
