Jason, it came to me from a client who no longer lives here, but knows that this issue will eventually affect a large portion of the U.S.  Thanks for helping to spread the word.

Lisa, That information is amazing...and frightening. I continue to wonder why we are not doing more for your beautiful area....it's very sad.

Lisa, thanks for posting this. It is, indeed, scary. For all the folks out there who think it only happens in LA, look around your own areas... If you live anywhere where there are wetlands, chances are they are disappearing... Until now, most in EPA and other agencies turned a completely blind eye to wetlands, authorizing fills for projects and cutting canals. Wetlands were considered nothing but swamps - and in a lot of places still are. The Corps of Engineers here still allows for wetland mitigation - which is just a nice way of putting filling acres of wetlands in exchange for 'preserving' an acre of something else someplace else.... These are not swamps - coastal wetlands are the most diverse ecosystems we have in this country, and they affect everything for all of us - the water we drink, the storms' impacts, the beaches, and the wildlife.
Ok, i highjacked, sorry Lisa -:-) I am passing this on to everyone as well-

Carole, the frightening part is that it will impact much more than Louisiana.  This has national implications and everyone should be aware of it.

Inna, hijack away...you are right that it is not just the LA coastline...people need to be aware of what we are doing in the name of progress.

Martin, I wish I had a magic wand to do just that :(  Pass this on to anyone and everyone...

Fascinating. The young lady on the video is impassioned and quite credible. Never knew about cypress mulch. Folks buy it by the truck up here. Well done, Lisa. New Orleans is a place I'd like to visit.

Lisa - ok, i stole the clip and used it in an outside blog of mine. so kill me. i have been aware of this situation. no one mentioned that our ability to bring oil to refineries is also in danger. when the coastline shrinks, the only port for tankers will be gone. oh, yeah, the outside blog is http://itsadamnlie.wordpress.com/ that is not a plug. just letting you know what i did with your info. your pal oh me oh my oh the roux maker : )

John, you are welcome to plug on my blog anytime.  The clip is not mine...it's meant to be shared with as many people as we can to raise awareness of what is happening.  Like Inna pointed out, it's not just a LA problem, this is happening all over.

Being from that part of the country I've been aware of the problem for a long time, but I've also been gone a lone time.  A football sized chunk of land is lost every 30 minutes?  Geez.  Thanks for posting the video... I'll definitely pass on the link.
