Lisa, I was surprised that the HOA takes such an active interest in cultivating the arts, like sponsoring a garden and decorating contest. Up here they serve as financial boards with oversight, primarily. (Did you notice I am modeling my Localism posts after yours? What's that saying about imitation and flattery?)

Andrew, there certainly is oversight with the HOA board, but (in my opinion) the best ones try to foster a sense of community.  Activities such as the contests help to do that.  I am honored that you would consider these worthy of a model for your posts!

Lisa, The Pleasant Ridge Estates look just beautiful, both the area and the homes. I'm sure these places won't last very long on the market, they're lovely.

Hi Lisa, this looks like a lovely location. Curiosity question: Is Anne Rice still living in that old school building there? I was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras some years back and I saw the old school and schoolyard. How cool. I personally have never attempted to read one of her books buy others say they were good. I guess it depends on what you enjoy reading! Later in the rain,~Deb

Carole, it's a wonderful area and I don't think that the homes will stay on the market very long.  It's a rare opportunity for buyers to get into this community.

Deb, I don't follow Anne Rice, but I'm pretty sure that she does not live there anymore.  I'm not even sure that she is still in NOLA now, but I could be wrong :)
