I found myself between appointments today - not enough time to head back to the office but enough that heading to the next property meant sitting in the car waiting...and waiting. Instead, I stopped in at Parrot Pete's for an afternoon snack. After all, they do have a very nice selection of sandwiches and salads and it was past the lunch hour rush so I knew I could get in and out pretty quickly. My intention was to get a salad.
What's that old saying? Oh, yeah. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I decided today that my favorite part of being a grown up is being able to sit outside, watch the fountains and have triple berry cake with strawberry-kiwi iced tea for lunch.
Parrot Pete's Gourmet Bakery is located at 1901 Manhattan Blvd in the Fountain Park Centre and is open from 7 am - 7 pm.

Lisa - Sometimes you just have to go for it. The cake looked good and I am sure you enjoyed it all.
Hi Lisa - Looks like the temptation got the better of you:) Love the waterfall in the background.
Jennifer, with the display case overflowing with all of these delicious looking desserts, I just couldn't resist!
Bill, yes....it did :)
If I were visting you, I'd want to go and enjoy a piece of that cake. It looks like either butter cream or cream cheese icing. I'll take both!
Amanda, if you come visit me I will buy you all of the cake you can eat :)
OH YUM!!! That looks good! I like being a grown-up and being able to make good, healthy decisions on what to have for lunch. :) Looks like you made a great decision on what to have for lunch! I did have a salad for lunch yesterday and then ice cream for dessert with lots & lots of chocolate syrup on it!!! :)
Judi, forget the salad....just go for dessert! LOL!
Lisa, It looks wonderful! I have a sweet tooth so I would LOVE this place too. I am trying to spend as much time as possible outdoors--before it gets cold here again!
That looks amazing!! I love berries! and oh for lunch sounds perfect!! I won't tell anyone!!
Carole, it's still hot here, but there is a wonderful shaded patio with outdoor furniture, ceiling fans and a view of the fountain, so I could not resist!

Looks Yummy Lisa, and it looks like it was a beautiful day also.
Barbara, it was delicious. Right down to the very last bite :)

Sally, it was a nice little break in the middle of the afternoon. No crowds...just the sound of the water, my tea and that scrumptious cake :)
