The talk of the town all around the West Bank today has been the snow! Yes, snow. In New Orleans. Southeast Louisiana. Just miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Honest to goodness, blanket the lawn and the roofs and the car snow!
I know this is not a big deal to those who live in the north, but it's a HUGE thing here. Just thought I would share some photos of our winter wonderland that breezed in this morning and was melted away by the afternoon.
I wouldn't want to live with this all winter long, but it sure made for an exciting day...Happy Holidays to everyone.

Hey Lisa, Cool! Has it melted yet? When is the last time you saw snow In NOLA?
hugs,
G
Lisa~ Oh my, snow in NOLA?? Being from FL, I've never seen snow fall, but if it can happen there, it can happen anywhere...Enjoy!
What wonderful pics! We've had a bunch of snow so far this year; lucky you...yours melted!
Ginger, it was melted away by the afternoon, but it was beautiful while it lasted. At least I didn't have to drive in it!
LaShawn, it was crazy! We last had snow on Christmas Day, 2004 and before that I can't remember how long it was. It never lasts long, but the entire city stops while it does :)
Kelly, I couldn't live where I had to deal with it all of the time. That's just too cold for me!
Lisa! I heard you guys had snow. WOW!! Believe with me "White Christmas, White Christmas!"...
Consider it my Christmas present to ya'll. We had plenty to go around. Merry Christmas, Lisa! :)
I heard you guys got snow! I know it doesn't happen often so I bet everyone was excited:) I will ship you down some of ours if you want more.
Wow! What a beautiful sight! I saw your twitter comments this am and wondered...how often do you even get snow?
Linda, we HAD a white Christmas in 2004. Although it was beautiful, the entire city shut down due to ice on the roads and bridges. We definitely are not equipped for weather like this!
Jesse, YOU sent it? My youngest thanks you very, very, very much :)
Bill, thanks for the offer but I think I'm good with just a morning of it!
Sally, not very often at all! We had some in 2004 and a couple of times in the 80s...if there was more I don't remember the dates because it's not something that happens here. We have so much water around us that it usually doesn't stick for long, so I was out in the driveway taking pictures as quick as I could. The kids even got let out of class to play in it before it melted! How are you after all of the rain today??
Wow, great pictures and I can't believe you had snow! That's insane. We had a few sprinkles in surrounding cities but not in SA. We are like you, happens never. KM
Lisa nice pictures. Would you believe I flew to Tampa yesterday and drove back today with my daughter. She goes to college there. She said she was going back to cold here.
Kristin, it was a blink and you missed it thing - not snowing when I dropped son off at school and it was all melted by the time I picked him up!
John, so you missed the snow???
Lisa, such pretty pictures. I get excited about snow too....I shared some last Memorial Day from the mountains close to Mesa. Very, very pretty. ;-)
Lisa,
What fun! In the Christmas spirit...please don't send it to Northwest Florida. I had enough snow when I lived in the Midwest!
Happy Holidays!
Terri, it didn't last long, but at least I got to see snow this year. Snow around Memorial Day? That's incredible - it's so hot here then.
Connie, how's the weather today? I heard it was heading your way.
Lisa, I had no idea it snowed in New Orleans---EVER. I loved the pictures because it looks so pretty when it's somewhere else. We were lucky, we got heavy downpours but no snow.
I am so freakin' jealous!!! I haven't seen snow in 8 years...:-(
i want snow for x-mas!!!
I am CRAZY jealous!! I want snow so badly. We've had a sprinke...but nothing real. I'm ready for some serious snow this year. BTW...your pics are absoulutely gorgeous. ~GBU~
Wow that is something. For those here in the south that want snow, I'll make arrangement to ship mine to you in exchange for sunlight and temp. above 20-30 degrees. A balmy 50 would even be nice:-)
I was watching CNN when they broke to go to New Orleans and show the snow there. I thought of you immediately and got excited for you, then knew you would blog about it. Thank you! Snow is not exciting for me but it is ohhhhhhh so pretty isn't it?
Lisa, it is fun to get it now and then isn't it? I'm a little shocked though that you'd have snow that far south. Oh well, I hope you enjoyed it. Our weekend snow helped get me in the holiday spirit...finally!
wow, you got lucky, the snow in my area did not stick
Carole, it snows very rarely here, so when it does it's BIG news for us :)
Inna, if I had known, I would have put some in a baggy for you..LOL!
Elizabeth, thank you! I'm sure you get snow more often than we do.
Rebecca, uh......no thanks :)
Kris, awwww, thanks for thinking of me - am I that predictable??
Colleen, it definitely helped me move from Scrooge mode into a halfway acceptable holiday spirit :)
Crystal, it didn't stick long! It started snowing at about 8:30 am and was all melted away by 3:00!
Wow, I love the eye candy! We were excited for a hot minute when it started snowing today but it didn't last long. :-)
CTS, if my neighbors had been home they would have laughed their heads off at me running around in the front yard taking pictures...you would think I had never seen snow before, but since we get it so rarely I knew I had to capture the moment. I'm sure you'll get your fair share before winter is over!
How fun! I like that orange tree with snow! Thanks for posting these pictures.
Georgina, I don't think orange trees are supposed to have snow on them, but neither are hibiscus!
Lisa, what a SHOCK! I feel the same as you do...nice but not on a steady basis. It must have thrown a loop out there in New Orleans for everyone!
I know that it has been frightfully cold here in Sacramento but thank heavens NO SNOW! Hope to keep it that way.
Have a wonderful holiday, Lisa. Hope it warms up for you.
wow - this is awesome! enjoy the snow while it lasts :)
wow - this is awesome! enjoy the snow while it lasts :)
Lisa, I missed this post because I was on my way to Louisiana!!! We kept getting calls from family in Lake Charles, LA, telling us to be careful driving in the snow!!! It was all melted by the time we left San Antonio for Louisiana. We got our snow fall on Wed., Dec. 10th.
My brother was soooo excited -- he thinks he's pretty special because it snowed on his birthday! :)
We had snow in Hawaii also. On the mountain tops on the neighbor islands. :)
Lisa, this has been the wierdest winter season yet. I am not even surprised that there is snow on the ground.
Your pictures are lovely. Here in Baton Rouge we had lots of snow as well. Set the second highest record ever with 3 - 8 inches parts of our area
Hey my friend, this is even more odd than Snow in Austin. Hope all is well with you and happy holidays!
Lisa - isn't this weather incredible! wow I'm amazed the snow found you all the way in New Orleans but the proof is in your pictures :) Many areas around Seattle had record snowfall this holiday season also. finally today there was enough warming and rain to put a dent in the inches of white stuff that's had my car stuck in it's parking spot for over a week.
Thanks for the wonderful pictures and it's nice to hear yours melted almost as quickly as it came. good thing you had your camera at the ready. Stay warm and may the New Year be Joyful and Prosperous in '09. Cheers!
Lisa, how COOL! (pun intended of course.) THe way you felt about this snow is the way I felt about the 10 inches we got before Halloween! (We usually get NO snow before Thanksgiving!)
What a nice treat for you - it is wonderful when it's so pretty and then goes away soon. :)
Lisa,
those pictures are amazing! I never would have pictured New Orleans this way.
Marcu
Lisa, That is so cool. I live in Florida and it snowed once here in 1989 on Christmas Eve, I will never forget it. Thanks for sharing.
Lisa Heindel, New Orleans West Bank Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty Westbank)- Snow in New Orleans? Who would've thought of it. Not me. At least President Obama is not calling anyone in New Orleans wimps like he called us in Washington DC for closing school two days straight-Ouch. Great post.
Lanre, I had to laugh when I saw that clip on the news. He did call ya'll wimps, didn't he? LOL!
Lisa-Great pictures! I'm glad we here in Michigan aren't the only ones getting snow! Best to you in 2009!
