Saturday was glorious! The weather was absolutely perfect, thanks to the efforts of the Medicine Man, as the Krewe of Choctaw celebrated with their annual River Parade. The morning started off at Front Street Station in Gretna, with a breakfast buffet prepared by owner Joey Istre and his wife Pam.
Suitably fortified, we made our way across the street to the Gretna Ferry Landing to board the Steamboat Natchez.
We were greeted by the Officers and Captain along with the crew of the Natchez
As passengers began boarding, the calliope was playing our song...
And the party began!
The view of the city was incredible:
The fireboat guided us up and down the river, spraying streams of water into the air
I hope you can join us on Valentine's Day as we parade through the streets of Algiers, Terrytown and into the City of Gretna. Visit the Krewe of Choctaw for a map of the parade route.
Happy Mardi Gras and Hail the Chief!

Looks like some fun is returning to your city and I love the Video!
Lisa sure looks like a lot of fun. The weather looks beautiful in New Orleans!
I am spending February with you next year. You are having way too much fun without me.
Lisa, I am beginning to think that you have way more fun that I do. I'm with Amanda. I'm spending next February with you! xxoo
What timing, Lisa! With your talk of the Krewes, I thought this would be a post on the Gasparilla pirates annual invasion of Tampa, Florida, which was also last weekend.
LOL! All you poor people who don't get to take the streets and parade every year have no idea what you are missing! We are always open to new riders if anyone wants to join for 2010 - the big 75th anniversary.
Lisa, looks like soooo much fun!!! :) I'll be there next year!!! Save us 2 spots!!! :)
I don't think it would be tough to talk my wife into it... At least if we could spend the time and money to get down there. Can the kids ride the float?
Judi, we have members who come from TX every year!
Lane, the dues are very reasonable and how much you spend on throws is up to you and how generous you are :) Kids are absolutely welcome - we have families that all ride together every year. My kids are pros now!
Lisa - It was great talking with you this evening. Maybe we'll get to meet up in NOLA or SDCA...
Hi Lisa...
I'm just going around checking in with everyone. I've been MIA a LOT. I have this overpowering urge to zip down my subscription list and say Hello to Everyone on it. The fact that I'm subscribed to 100's of Bloggers doesn't seem to be bothering me :)
TLW...ROAR!
TLW!!! Wonderful to see you...thank you for thinking of me and stopping in. I SOOOOO hope that this means you are feeling better!!!
Sweetie...
I'm feeling much better. All that's left to do is finish up Physical Therapy. Ouch. I am on crutches now and in the process of taking back my life and my little world. Poor BB, his reign over me and my home has ended. The Queen and Mistress of this house are BACK!!! If I see him swipe the crumbs from the counters to the kitchen floor one more time, I'm going to shoot him in the arse with my bebe gun. His behind is a huge target. I can't miss :)
TLW...ROAR!
Lisa: I love you! Thank you for posting this. One of my favorite pictures is of Jason and I waiting to board the Natchez. We had so much fun in New Orleans and the Natchez was a great experience. Now, I want to go back!
Jess, come join us for the River Parade next year! It will be at the end of January - the 30th or 31st I think.
